Dr Declan Lafferty is a research fellow in Astrobotany with Plants for Space. His work involves developing alpine strawberry varieties (Fragaria vesca) with enhanced harvest index (the ratio of yield to total plant biomass) traits including leaf palatability, greater fruit yield and precise control of runner production (a means of strawberry propagation).
