Synopsis: Growing plants in space presents enormous challenges. Outside Earth’s atmosphere there is no gravity, limited water movement and no natural convection to deliver oxygen to plant roots. Scientists from the Plants for Space research initiative are developing new technologies to help plants survive and thrive in these extreme conditions, supporting future long-term space missions.
