National Science Week 2025

Welcome to Grow for Launch - Your Mission Starts Now!

Plants for Space is thrilled to have you on board for this year’s National Science Week! Across Australia, young space explorers and citizen scientists just like you are rolling up their sleeves to grow plants like real space farmers, all while helping us understand how plants can support humans on future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Ready to Begin?

Download your Grow for Launch Handbook to get started with your plant growth experiment. You’ll learn how to build your own bottle hydroponic system and test how different growing conditions affect plant health, flavour, and growth just like our scientists preparing for the missions Mars.

Looking for more space inspiration? Don’t miss our Space Food & Farming Resource Booklet! It’s packed with fun facts about the Artemis Program, how astronauts eat in space, and what it takes to grow food on the Moon and Mars.
