Light recipes to grow plants in space

Do plants in space need sunlight?

For plants to grow they need air, water, nutrition and light. But how do we provide light in a space station, or a vertical farm? You can learn all about that in this short video.

This video was produced as part of a project on 'Autonomous agriculture to support space exploration', and answers the question 'how do we use lights for growing plants for space?'.

This work was funded through the UK Space Agency and Australian Space Agency as part of the International Bilateral Fund 2024. The project is lead by Vertical Future and supported by the following partners: Axiom Space, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space, South Australian Space Industry Centre, Saber Astronautics, the University of Western Australia, the University of Adelaide, University of Cambridge, University of Southern Queensland.
