Carey Taylor
Carey Taylor is the CEO and co-founder of Blakthumb, a robust operating platform for the cannabis industry. Blakthumb is a combination of both a seed-to-sale and ERP system, providing operators with the control and management needed for everyday production without the burden of managing multiple platforms or regulatory issues.
Originating from Aotearoa (New Zealand), Carey's upbringing has shaped her commitment to improving social and environmental outcomes for community. She was raised with Māori (Indigenous) values, teaching her that it is our duty to preserve everything that the natural world has to offer because we are Kaitiaki (the Māori concept of kaitiakitanga, which means to guard, protect, and conserve the natural world). This foundation has influenced Blakthumb's dedication to supporting operators in creating long-term, sustainable businesses by offering solutions that evolve with their business needs.
Carey's background in operations, architecture, and design has significantly contributed to Blakthumb's development and success. She has a knack for understanding both the big picture and the finer details of operations, applying this insight to create Blakthumb. Carey's experience creating and building multi-million dollar environments for commercial businesses, hospitality brands, and controlled environment farms, served as inspiration. The Blakthumb platform was developed to improve production control and provide comprehensive insights for operators to validate their next decision. Carey values sustainable solutions that consider the needs of those for whom designs are intended. Her approach is characterized by a high regard for the design process and the goal of continuously improving a solution.
