When facing complex challenges, a different perspective can uncover solutions we might miss otherwise. 

As well as a useful skill in any STEM field, this thinking will be essential for students as they navigate an increasingly connected, complex world.

In the first instalment of a joint educational series, Ted Tagami (Magnitude.io, Australian Virtual Astronaut Challenge) sat down with members from the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space to highlight what cross-discipline collaboration looks like in action.

University of Adelaide Node leader Professor Jenny Mortimer opens the video with an important message for students:

"One experiment can give data for many different people as they ask different types of questions," says Professor Mortimer. "It requires all of these different talents and expertise".

The series will support students and teachers participating in the Australian Virtual Astronaut Challenge (AVA) as they engage with current research in space habitation and sustainability. Each video aims to equip students with new interdisciplinary ways to approach their own team projects.

Through our work with the AVA Challenge, Plants for Space is contributing to a more dynamic, collaborative future workforce.
